About the Arranger: Doris Preucil

Doris Preucil

Doris Preucil founded the Preucil School of Music and served as its Director for decades, establishing it as a major center for string instruction. A violinist who performed with the Washington National Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic, she taught at Western Illinois University, the University of Northern Iowa, and Interlochen Arts Camp, while also presenting workshops internationally across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Preucil has been central to Suzuki pedagogy since 1963 and authored the Suzuki Viola School. She served as a founding Board Member of the International Suzuki Association and as Past President of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. The Iowa String Teachers Association named her Teacher of the Year in 2005, and Eastman School of Music awarded her a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004, where she continues to serve on the Honorary Advisory Board.
