Description
Only one other song in the entire rock era had a longer run at number one on the charts, and that was Elvis Presley's DON'T BE CRUEL/HOUND DOG. The writer of SINGING THE BLUES was 20-year old songster Melvin Endsley, and this was his first successful composition. Although recorded first by country artist Marty Robbins, it was Guy Mitchell's later version that propelled it to numero uno. Its staying power survives generation after generation of listeners and players! (duration 1:50)
