About the Composer: Gary Fagan

Gary Fagan brings three decades of band directing experience to his compositional work, having led the Albemarle County program for 36 years before transitioning to teacher training and mentorship. His music has been heard across prestigious venues, from the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic to the White House and the inauguration of Virginia Governor Douglas Wilder. Fagan holds degrees in Music Education from Bridgewater College and a master's from James Madison University, where he currently supervises student teachers and teaches arranging as adjunct faculty.

Recognized as Central Virginia's Outstanding Middle School Teacher by the University of Virginia's Phi Delta Kappa chapter, Fagan has also received honors from the Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts and the Piedmont Council of the Arts. Active as a clinician, adjudicator, and composer across band and string repertoire, he serves as Assistant Director and percussionist with the Charlottesville Band and maintains membership in ASCAP, the National Band Association, and Phi Beta Mu.
