Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over four decades as a composer, arranger, conductor, and publisher. Since 1987, she has been an annual recipient of the ASCAP Special Music Award and maintains more than 600 choral publications in print, along with 75 larger works including musicals and songbooks. She served as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at Alfred Music and has conducted honor choirs at major venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center.

Her academic background spans music and theater, with degrees from Rollins College (B.A., 1976), the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979), and faculty appointments at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. In 2021, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College, where she serves on the Board of Trustees. She is based in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
