This collection of SEVEN SONGS by Franz Schubert (1797-1828) have been transcribed for chamber quartet by Robert Stallman. The first part is intended for Flute, Oboe, or Violin, while the remaining three parts are for Violin, Viola, and Cello, so the work can be performed as either a mixed chamber ensemble or a standard string quartet. Songs included: 1. An die Musik, D. 547b/ Op. 88, No. 4 (To Music); 2. Hiedenröslein, D. 257/ Op. 3, No. 3 (The Little Rose on the Heath); 3. Die Vögel, D. 691/ Op. posth. 172, No. 6 (The Birds); 4. Wohin?, D. 795, No. 2 (Whither?); 5. Der Einsame, D. 800b/ Op. 41 (The Recluse); 6. Wiegenlied, D. 498/ Op. 98, No. 2 (Cradle Song); 7. Litanei, D. 343 (Litany for the Feast of All Souls' Day).
