Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937) wrote his Serenade, Op. 7 either at 12 years old in 1877 or a few years later in 1881. Composed for violin and piano, the short, charming piece in the Spanish style was later transcribed for string orchestra by the composer. This perfect encore work has been edited and fingered by Philipp Mittell. Reprint edition.
