Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin AM began her musical training at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and earned recognition early as a first violinist with the Sydney Youth Orchestra. Over the past three decades, she has maintained a dual career as both a performing musician and educator, serving as Principal Viola with the Queensland Pops Orchestra and Director of Strings at Somerville House School in Brisbane since 1993.

Fin's contributions to string music education extend across Australia and internationally. She has presented at national music conferences in both Australia and the United States, adjudicated major competitions, and composed over 100 works for string orchestra published worldwide. Her leadership within the Australian Strings Association spanned 25 years, including terms as State and National President. She received the Queensland State Award for services to AUSTA in 2009 and was honored with the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching. Since 2015, she has conducted the State and National Honours Ensembles Programs, and in 2017 released a comprehensive Beginner String Ensemble Series.
