About the Composer: Elena Roussanova Lucas

Elena Roussanova Lucas grew up in Moscow, where she began piano studies at age three and later entered the prestigious Central Music School's prodigy program. She went on to study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, earning the Red Diploma in Composition, Music History, Theory, and Instrumentation under the mentorship of Tihon Khrennikov and Tatiana Choodova.

Lucas has built a career spanning performance, composition, and pedagogy across Russia, Europe, and the United States. Her compositions have been performed by major Russian orchestras including The Tchaikovsky State Orchestra of Moscow and The Russian National Orchestra Brass Quintet, and she has won top prizes in Russia-wide piano competitions. She currently teaches at Boston University and remains a member of the United Russian Composers Union.
