About the Composer: Scott Watson

Scott Watson has spent four decades shaping young musicians as both a classroom teacher and university instructor. His 35-year tenure in the Parkland School District (Allentown, PA) included directing high school bands and coordinating elementary band and strings programs across the entire district before joining the faculty at Cairn University in Langhorne, PA, where he holds the rank of Associate Professor of Music.

Watson's compositional catalog exceeds 120 works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles at all levels. His voice draws equally from contemporary concert music and practical experience in the rehearsal room, resulting in pieces that are both musically sophisticated and teachable. His compositions have been performed at venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House. Watson serves as exclusive composer and clinician for Alfred Publications and has authored the music education text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011).
