William Owens brings three decades of classroom experience to his compositional work. Born in Gary, Indiana, he earned his degree from VanderCook College of Music in 1985 and spent 30 years directing bands in Texas before retiring in 2014. His catalog now exceeds 300 published works across concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles, many of which appear on state and national required music lists.

Owens has established himself as a trusted voice in young band repertoire through a compositional approach that balances musical substance with practical teachability. His work has earned recognition from the American Bandmasters Association, Phi Beta Mu International, and the Texas Bandmasters Association, and he maintains active membership in ASCAP and the Texas Music Educators Association. He resides in Fort Worth with his wife, Georgia.
