About the Composer: Erik Morales

Erik Morales (born 1966) established his composing career while still in high school when a former band director commissioned him to arrange music for marching band. He went on to study composition at Florida International University and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in 1989. His catalog now exceeds 150 published works spanning wind, orchestral, jazz, and chamber ensembles, performed internationally and regularly commissioned by schools and organizations across the United States.

As a trumpeter, Morales has made substantial contributions to the trumpet repertoire; his trumpet ensemble works earned first place at the National Trumpet Competitions in 2006 and 2008. His Concerto for Trumpet in C and Piano premiered at the 2009 International Trumpet Guild conference, and a consortium-commissioned Concerto for Two Trumpets debuted at the 2013 ITG conference. His work consistently balances artistic integrity with pedagogical accessibility, making him a trusted voice in educational music publishing. In 2016, he was inducted into the Louisiana Association for Jazz Education's Hall of Fame.
