About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages has built a compositional career that moves seamlessly across orchestral, band, and chamber idioms, with his works performed by ensembles at every level from elementary schools to major professional orchestras in venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Sydney Opera House. His honors include the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association, the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest, and membership in the American Bandmasters Association. His music was performed at the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service, and he has received commissions from institutions including the University of Miami.

As a guest conductor, Balmages regularly appears with all-state and regional ensembles, university groups, and professional orchestras worldwide, including notable engagements at the Midwest Clinic, Western International Band Clinic, and the College Band Directors Conference. He currently serves as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education.
