About the Composer: Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander has shaped educational piano pedagogy for nearly four decades. Since 1986, his association with Alfred Music has resulted in more than 400 published works and recordings, establishing him as one of the most performed composers of instructional piano music across all levels. Alexander earned his degree from the University of Kansas and spent 24 years on the faculty at the University of Montana, where he taught applied piano, class piano, and piano pedagogy while serving as department chair. He later taught at California State University, Fullerton and Northridge before settling in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Beyond the studio and classroom, Alexander maintains an active performance career as soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician. He made his Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1987 and has collaborated with internationally recognized soloists and ensembles. A former president of the Montana State Music Teachers Association, he is a sought-after clinician at state and national conventions. His works have been commissioned by numerous organizations, and he has conducted master classes and judged competitions across North America and Asia, bringing his deep understanding of student learning to musicians worldwide.
