About the Authors
Carol Matz is a prolific composer and arranger with over 300 published piano works for students. Beyond her creative output, she brings extensive classroom experience as a piano teacher and has become recognized as an engaging workshop presenter. Her Famous & Fun series, published by Alfred Music, has established her reputation in music education circles.
Throughout her career, Matz has studied composition, arranging, and orchestration at the University of Miami. She writes across multiple genres and ensemble types, from orchestral and jazz big band works to chamber pieces for brass quintet and string quartet. Her arranging skills have also been sought after by recording artists in Miami-area studios.
Matz regularly shares her expertise through piano-teaching workshops, traveling across the United States, Canada, England, New Zealand, and Australia to present to educators and students alike.

Victoria McArthur recently retired from her position as Program Director of Piano Pedagogy and Coordinator of Group Piano at Florida State University, Tallahassee, a premier music college in the United States. She holds the Permanent Professional Certificate in Piano and Music Theory from the Music Teachers National Association.
Her scholarly contributions span more than 80 publications, including the widely recognized Alfred's Premier Piano Course, co-authored with colleagues. As Keyboard Editor for Alfred Music Publishing since 2000, she has shaped educational materials in the field. Her writing has appeared in leading music and music education journals, and she previously served as a music reviewer for Piano Quarterly. Among her editorial achievements is a chapter on sight reading in Oxford University Press's The Science and Psychology of Music Performance.
Today, McArthur continues teaching piano and music theory to students of all ages and levels through McArthur & Musical Associates, her professional piano studio in the Tallahassee area. She has also shared her expertise internationally, including a 2006 tour of Korea presenting piano workshops for Alfred Music Publishing.
