About the Composer: Catherine Rollin

Catherine Rollin

Catherine Rollin brings together a dual career as both a performing pianist and composition educator, earning recognition for students who have won major competitions. Her teaching reaches across North America and Asia through workshops and masterclasses delivered in over 200 cities. Rollin holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree with distinction from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music degree from Oakland University School of Performing Arts.

Her compositional voice has attracted commissions from the Music Teachers National Association, the Michigan Music Teachers Association, and Clavier Companion magazine. Her work has been selected multiple times for the National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals Bulletin. Rollin has judged the MTNA Student Composition Competition at the national level and served on the panel for the Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Contest. In 2018, she received a commission from the MTNA's prestigious From the Pen to the Premiere series, which resulted in Suite Detroit for flute, alto saxophone, and piano, premiered at the MTNA national conference. Her ASCAP award-winning series Museum Masterpieces was featured in a multimedia concert presentation by the Steinway Society.
