About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has spent her career bridging the worlds of choral music, movement, and theater. Since 1987, she's been a consistent recipient of the ASCAP Special Music Award, with over 600 choral works and 75 musicals and songbooks currently in publication. Her work as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at Alfred Music shaped generations of music teachers and students, while her conducting appearances at festivals across Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center established her reputation for creating meaningful choral experiences.

Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater), the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama and M.M. in Accompanying), and has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. She served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and received the organization's "Pillar of Leadership" award. In 2021, both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College honored her as a Distinguished Alumna. She lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
