About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht
Sally K. Albrecht has shaped choral music education for over thirty years, first as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at major educational publishers including Alfred Music, and throughout her career as a sought-after clinician and conductor. Her output of more than 600 published choral works and 75 larger theatrical compositions reflects her deep understanding of what students can accomplish; she has conducted honor choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, and has been recognized annually by ASCAP with the Special Music Award since 1987.
Educated at Rollins College with a B.A. in Music and Theater (1976), Albrecht went on to earn both an M.A. in Drama and an M.M. in Accompanying from the University of Miami. Her work is distinguished by a gift for integrating movement and staging into choral performance. In 2021, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College, where she serves as a Board member. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
