About the Composer: Christopher Goldston

Christopher Goldston

Christopher Goldston studied piano performance and pedagogy at Northwestern University (Master of Music) and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro (Bachelor of Music). He has held faculty positions at Columbia College Chicago, Roosevelt University, and Sherwood Conservatory of Music, while also maintaining a private teaching studio in Chicago and offering virtual instruction.

Goldston's compositions have earned national recognition, including the Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Award from the National Federation of Music Clubs in 1991 for his work Night Train. Since 2010, he has served as national coordinator for the MTNA Composition Competition. He was named an MTNA Foundation Fellow in 2020 and previously served as MTNA National Secretary-Treasurer from 2021 to 2023. MTNA commissioned him to compose Four Virtues for oboe, violin, and piano, which premiered at the 2022 MTNA National Conference.
