About the Composer: Roland Barrett

Roland Barrett has shaped emerging composers and conductors as a member of the University of Oklahoma's music theory and composition faculty since 2001. Before entering academia, he spent fifteen years as Assistant Director of Bands, and he continues to arrange for the Pride of Oklahoma marching band while maintaining an active compositional practice.

Barrett's catalog includes over two hundred published works for symphonic band, chamber ensembles, and marching band. His compositions have reached audiences on NPR, at the Midwest Band & Orchestra Convention, and through performances by the Dallas Wind Symphony and countless All-State and All-Region honor bands. He is a multiple recipient of the ASCAPlus award and holds deep roots in American wind band tradition.
