About the Composer: Robert T. Gibson
Robert T. Gibson is a conductor, composer, and arranger based in Houston who has dedicated his career to building music programs that develop future educators. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Texas and his Master of Music from Missouri State University, where he later served as adjunct professor and director of Reed Academy. His work spans middle school, high school, collegiate, and church settings, and he has guest clinicced across Texas, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Tennessee, and New York.
Gibson's contributions to choral music have earned significant recognition, including the 2020 Missouri Choral Directors Association Opus Award for his arrangement of "We Shall Overcome" and the 2022 NAACP Trailblazer Award for his community service in Springfield. His choirs have performed at the Missouri Music Education Association Conference, Jackson Day's Democratic Party Banquet, and community historical marker dedications. At Missouri State, he founded the Multicultural Ensemble, which brought together university students and community musicians for performances at the state level. His compositions and arrangements are published through Walton Music and Alfred Publications.
