About the Composer: Scott Watson

Scott Watson spent 35 years teaching instrumental and elective music in the Parkland School District near Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he directed high school bands and later built the district's elementary band and strings program from the ground up. Now Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, he brings that classroom experience into every composition he writes.

Watson has published more than 120 works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensemble across all levels. His music draws equally from contemporary classical traditions and the practical realities of the rehearsal room, a balance that has earned him commissions and performances at venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House. He serves as an exclusive composer and clinician for Alfred Publications, contributes to their Sound Innovations series, and authored Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011).
