About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams built a prolific career as a composer and educator centered on school band repertoire. His output of more than 200 published works, combined with his role as co-author of the Accent on Achievement Band Method, made him a defining voice in elementary and middle school band literature. Williams held degrees from Eastern Washington University and spent his teaching career in Washington state, where he focused on building strong elementary band programs.

Beyond the classroom, Williams maintained an active presence as a clinician and guest conductor, visiting schools across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. He earned recognition from the Western International Band Clinic and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. A skilled woodwind performer, he served as bassoon soloist and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band and later conducted the Spokane British Brass Band.
