About the Composer: Catherine Rollin

Catherine Rollin

Catherine Rollin balances an active performance schedule with mentoring accomplished piano students. She has conducted workshops and masterclasses across North America and Asia, sharing her pedagogical approach with teachers and students in over 200 cities.

Rollin earned her Bachelor of Musical Arts degree with distinction from the University of Michigan and completed her Master of Music degree at Oakland University School of Performing Arts. Her compositions have earned commissions from the Clavier Companion magazine, the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and the Michigan Music Teachers Association, with several works selected for the National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals Bulletin. She has served as a national judge for both the MTNA Student Composition Competition and the Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Contest. In 2018, the MTNA commissioned her work Suite Detroit (a trio for flute, alto saxophone, and piano), which premiered at the national conference in Orlando. That same year, the Steinway Society featured her in concert as both composer and pianist, showcasing her ASCAP award-winning Museum Masterpieces series.
