About the Composer: Gary Fagan

Gary Fagan earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education from Bridgewater College and his master's degree from James Madison University. His compositions and arrangements have been heard at prestigious venues including the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the White House, and the inauguration of Virginia Governor Douglas Wilder.

Fagan spent 36 years directing bands in Albemarle County schools before transitioning to higher education, where he serves as a University Supervisor at JMU and has taught arranging as adjunct faculty. His contributions to music education have earned him recognition as Central Virginia Outstanding Middle School Teacher, Outstanding Educator from the Virginia Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts, and Outstanding Educator from the Piedmont Council of the Arts. He maintains an active schedule as a clinician, adjudicator, composer, and arranger while serving as Assistant Director and percussionist with the Charlottesville Band.
