About the Composer: Darren W. Jenkins

Darren W. Jenkins holds a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Kansas, where he studied under James Barnes, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Washburn University. His teaching career spans multiple levels and roles: he began in Troy, Kansas teaching both instrumental and vocal music, served as Director of Music at Hayden High School in Topeka, spent two years as an elementary band director in Lawrence Public Schools while assisting with the high school program there, and currently holds the position of Assistant Director of Bands at Olathe South High School in Olathe, Kansas.

As an award-winning composer and active clinician, Jenkins has established a strong presence in the band world. His compositions have been performed and recorded by ensembles across the United States and internationally, reflecting his deep understanding of what works in rehearsal and on the concert stage.
