About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams built his reputation as one of the most prolific and respected composers for school bands. His catalog exceeds 200 published works, and his influence on instrumental music education runs deep, particularly through his co-authorship of the Accent on Achievement Band Method. Williams brought particular expertise to elementary band, having taught in Washington schools for many years while simultaneously establishing himself as a clinician and guest conductor across North America and Australia.

Beyond composition, Williams was an accomplished performer and arranger, serving as a woodwind player and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band and later as conductor and artistic director of the Spokane British Brass Band. His contributions earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. Williams held degrees from Eastern Washington University and shaped multiple generations of student musicians through both his music and his teaching.
