About the Composer: Erik Morales

Erik Morales was born in New York City in 1966 and has built a prolific career spanning classical, jazz, and commercial genres. With more than 150 published works, his compositions have been performed internationally and commissioned regularly by schools and ensembles. He studied composition at Florida International University and completed his degree at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in 1989.

Morales began arranging music professionally in 1985 while still in high school, work that launched him into educational music publishing. As a trumpeter, he has contributed substantially to the trumpet repertoire, earning first-place honors at the National Trumpet Competitions and having works premiered at the International Trumpet Guild conferences. In 2016, he was inducted into the Louisiana Association for Jazz Education's Hall of Fame. His approach consistently balances artistic integrity with pedagogical value, a philosophy evident throughout his catalog.
