About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin built her career across multiple continents as a violinist, violist, and string educator. Her training at the Sydney Conservatorium and early leadership role as concertmaster of the Sydney Youth Orchestra set the foundation for decades of performance and teaching; she has been Principal Viola with the Queensland Pops Orchestra for over 25 years and directed strings at Somerville House School since 1993.

Beyond the rehearsal room, Fin has shaped string education at the highest levels in Australia. She served as State and National President of the Australian Strings Association, adjudicated major competitions nationwide, examined for the Australian Music Examinations Board, and advised the Queensland Symphony Orchestra's education committee. Her prolific output of over 100 published works for string orchestra reflects her deep understanding of what young ensembles need to learn and grow. Recent honors include the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching in Australia.
