• Assign parts intentionally. The top line carries the melody and requires the more advanced player; the bottom line supports the harmonic foundation. This keeps both students invested in the outcome.
• Establish rhythmic clarity on dotted rhythms and 6/8 meter before adding bow technique. Count together, tap together, then play together.
• Practice pizzicato passages slowly at first. Consistency of tone and articulation matters more than speed; nail the technique now and tempo comes naturally.
• Shift together. When the top line moves into higher positions, have both players track the shift visually and acoustically so intonation stays locked.
