About the Composer: Catherine Rollin

Catherine Rollin

Catherine Rollin balances an active performance schedule with mentoring accomplished young pianists. She holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts degree with distinction from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music degree from Oakland University School of Performing Arts, and has presented workshops and masterclasses across the United States, Canada, Japan, and Taiwan.

Rollin's compositions have earned recognition from major music organizations, including commissions from the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), the Michigan Music Teachers Association, and Clavier Companion magazine. Her work has been featured in the National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals Bulletin, and she has judged at the national level for the MTNA Student Composition Competition and the Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Contest. The MTNA's prestigious From the Pen to the Premiere series commissioned her trio for flute, alto saxophone, and piano called Suite Detroit, which premiered at the 2018 MTNA national conference. In 2018, the Steinway Society honored her as both composer and pianist, showcasing her ASCAP award-winning Museum Masterpieces series.
