Owens' approach to young band writing prioritizes accessibility without sacrificing musical substance. His work has earned recognition from major professional organizations including ASCAP and the Texas Bandmasters Association, and commissions from institutions such as South Plains College and the American Bandmasters Association. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, he remains active as both a composer and clinician.
