About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has spent more than thirty years in the classroom while building a prolific career as a composer whose works are performed by young musicians across the country. His catalog spans concert band, methods, and arrangements that balance musical integrity with real-world pedagogy. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) reached an audience of over 5,000 at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Loest's fingerprints appear throughout music education: he has contributed to best-selling methods including Measures of Success: A Comprehensive Musicianship Band Method and Warm-ups and Beyond, and his music has been featured on network television including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and in 2022 founded Fanfare Music Press to publish compositions and arrangements for band at the highest standard. Loest continues to accept commissions and taught his entire career at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca, Illinois.
