He has received commissions to compose and conduct for all-state honor choirs and chamber ensembles, and continues to perform as a tenor soloist and member of the North Carolina Master Chorale. His educational foundation (Bachelor's in Music Education from Ithaca College; Master's from Northwest Missouri State University) informs every project he undertakes.

Why we love this

Beck packs five beloved carols into just over three minutes without sacrificing musicality or clarity. The fresh treatments feel contemporary and engaging, yet the carols remain instantly recognizable, making this an ideal choice for holiday concerts where you need something both familiar and distinctive.

What to expect

Festive, bright, and alive with momentum. The arrangement dances through familiar melodies with contemporary energy, offering moments of warm reflection alongside bursts of holiday joy. From the opening clarity to the final note, this medley radiates the genuine warmth of carols sung together.

Who it's for

This octavo works for choirs at any level looking for a polished, crowd-pleasing holiday selection that doesn't demand an extensive rehearsal commitment. Community choruses, church choirs, and school ensembles will all find a vehicle here that entertains audiences while remaining accessible to singers of mixed experience.

How to get the most out of it

  • Balance the medley's brisk transitions by maintaining ensemble focus during the tempo changes between carols; a confident conductor's gesture will keep singers together across the sectional breaks.
  • Layer the text delivery with intention, especially in the faster sections like 'Jingle Bells,' to ensure diction remains crisp and audible even as singers are moving through rhythmic material.
  • Capitalize on the recorded accompaniment to lock the ensemble's internal pulse, particularly in passages where melodic lines interweave across voice parts.
  • Let the contrasting moods of each carol breathe; 'Still, Still, Still' will land with greater impact if preceded by energetic treatments of the faster carols.

How to use it

Place this in the opening slot of a holiday concert to establish an upbeat tone, or save it as an energetic closer that sends audiences out smiling. It pairs well alongside longer, more contemplative carols, giving your program shape and variety within a single rehearsal piece.

Skills your students will build

  • Quick melodic adjustments across medley transitions
  • Maintaining ensemble cohesion at moderate to brisk tempos
  • Clarity and precision in faster text delivery
  • Responding to nuanced dynamic and harmonic shifts across multiple sections
