Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over three decades through her prolific output as composer, conductor, and educator. Her catalog of more than 600 choral works reflects deep understanding of what works in the rehearsal room and concert hall, earning her an ASCAP Special Music Award annually since 1987. She directed school choral publications for major educational publishers, including Alfred Music, and has led honor choirs at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center.

Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976), the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977, and M.M. in Accompanying, 1979), and taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. She is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College, where she currently serves on the Board of Trustees. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
