About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht brings three decades of experience shaping choral music for young singers. As Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications for Alfred Music, she developed an ear for what captures children's voices and imaginations. Her catalog includes over 600 choral works and 75 songbooks and musicals, while her annual ASCAP Special Music Awards (since 1987) reflect consistent recognition from the composing community. She has conducted honor choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, and her work with choral movement has influenced how teachers approach physical engagement in singing.

Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976) and the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979). She has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. In 2021, both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College honored her with their highest alumni awards. She lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
