About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped elementary and choral music education for over three decades, first as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at major educational publishers, and through her prolific output of more than 600 choral works. A consistent ASCAP Special Music Award recipient since 1987, she is recognized nationally for integrating movement into choral teaching and has conducted honor choirs at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center. She holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976), the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979), and has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College.

Albrecht's collaborative partnership with composer and arranger Jay Althouse (her husband) has produced songbooks, musicals, and educational materials widely used in classrooms. In recognition of her leadership and impact, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College in 2021, and previously served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.
