About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams established himself as a foundational voice in school band composition, bringing decades of classroom experience to his writing. His work with the Accent on Achievement method and more than 200 published compositions shaped how generations of young musicians learned repertoire and technique. Williams traveled extensively as clinician and guest conductor across the United States, Canada, and Australia, grounded in his background teaching elementary band throughout Washington state.

Beyond his prolific output as composer and arranger, Williams was an active musician, performing bassoon with the 560th Air Force Band and later serving as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band. His education degrees from Eastern Washington University informed his approach to writing for developing ensembles. His compositions and arrangements earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards.
