About the Composer: Scott Watson

Scott Watson spent 35 years teaching instrumental music in the Parkland School District near Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he led the high school band program and later shaped the elementary band and strings curriculum across the district. He is now Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and has composed over 120 works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles at every level. His music draws equally from his grounding in contemporary concert art and his deep experience in the school band room, a combination that has earned him frequent commissions and performances at venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House.

Watson serves as exclusive composer and clinician for Alfred Publications and contributes regularly to their Sound Innovations series. He has authored the music education text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011) and frequently presents clinics and workshops for music educators.
