About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest brings three decades of classroom experience to his compositions, creating works that connect with young musicians and audiences alike. His pieces have reached millions through performances at venues like Chicago's Millennium Park and appearances on network television including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. In 2017, the Illinois Grade School Music Association honored him with the Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education, recognizing his sustained impact on music pedagogy and performance.
Loest's publishing history spans from his first work in 1995 through partnerships with major houses including Warner Bros. Publications, C.L. Barnhouse, and FJH Music. He co-authored several widely adopted method series: Measures of Success (a comprehensive musicianship band method), Warm-ups and Beyond, Rhythms and Beyond, and Chorales and Beyond. In 2022, he founded Fanfare Music Press to focus on high-quality band compositions and arrangements. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Illinois State University and his Master of Music from Northwestern University, and is an ASCAP member.
