About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has spent over thirty years in the classroom while building a parallel career as a prolific composer and arranger. His works for young band are performed internationally, and his influence extends through pedagogical partnerships with major publishers including several bestselling method series. He founded Fanfare Music Press in 2022 to continue publishing high-quality compositions and arrangements for band at all levels.

Loest's music has reached audiences far beyond the concert hall, appearing on network television programs including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) was performed for over 5,000 spectators at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's highest honor, the Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, and he remains active accepting commissions for band.
