About the Composer: Scott Watson

Scott Watson brings three decades of classroom experience to his work as Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University. Before moving into higher education, he spent 35 years teaching instrumental and elective music in the Parkland School District near Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he directed the high school bands and later shaped the district's elementary band and strings programs.

Watson's compositional voice draws equally from contemporary classical music and the working band world. His catalog of more than 120 published works spans concert band, string orchestra, and chamber music across all difficulty levels. His music has been heard at venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House. He serves as a composer-clinician for Alfred Publications, contributes to the Sound Innovations series, and authored Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011).
