About the Composer: Kris Berg

Kris Berg directs the jazz studies program at Collin County Community College in Texas, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. His big band arrangements and compositions have been performed and recorded internationally; he is a prolific arranger for Belwin Jazz and has authored instructional materials including Bass Lines in Minutes. Berg founded and directs the Collin Jazz Fest and the Texas All-Star Jazz Camp, and has clinicked and performed alongside musicians including Kurt Elling, Randy Brecker, Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer, and Clark Terry.

As a Yamaha artist clinician, Berg remains active in the jazz education and performance community. Under his direction, Collin's jazz ensembles have earned invitations to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival multiple times, establishing the program as a regional force in jazz education.
