About the Composer: Gary Fagan

Gary Fagan brings three decades of classroom experience to his work as a composer and arranger. A native of Maryland, he earned degrees in Music Education from Bridgewater College and in his graduate work at James Madison University, where he later returned to teach arranging as adjunct faculty and now serves as a University Supervisor. His compositions and arrangements have been performed at prestigious venues including the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the White House, and the inauguration of Virginia Governor Douglas Wilder.

Throughout his 36-year tenure as a band director in Albemarle County, Fagan earned recognition as Central Virginia Outstanding Middle School Teacher and received multiple Outstanding Educator Awards from the Virginia Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts and the Piedmont Council of the Arts. He has been listed twice in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" and remains deeply engaged with the music education community through clinician work, adjudication, and active membership in the Music Educators National Conference, Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association, and the National Band Association. Currently a percussionist and Assistant Director with the Charlottesville Band, he is also a member of ASCAP and Phi Beta Mu Bandmasters Fraternity.
