Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander has built a four-decade career as one of the most prolific composers of educational piano music, with over 400 published works and recordings through Alfred Music Publishing. Starting his relationship with the publisher in 1986, he earned international recognition for writing accessible, engaging pieces across all student levels. A native Kansan educated at the University of Kansas, Alexander taught piano pedagogy at the University of Montana for 24 years before relocating to California, where he held faculty positions at Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge.

Beyond the studio and classroom, Alexander has maintained an active performance career as soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician, making his New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 1987. He has collaborated with recognized soloists and ensembles worldwide, served as a clinician at state and national music teachers conventions, and traveled extensively throughout Asia conducting master classes and performances. His work has been commissioned by numerous state music associations, and he continues to compose and present workshops from his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
