About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has spent over three decades in the classroom at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca, Illinois, where he developed a deep understanding of what young musicians need to stay engaged and growing. His compositions and arrangements have reached audiences far beyond the school band room, appearing on network television shows including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America, and in 2017 his work Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) was performed for over 5,000 spectators at Chicago's Millennium Park.

Loest's prolific output spans four decades of published work with major publishers including The FJH Music Company, C.L. Barnhouse Company, and Warner Bros. Publications. He founded Fanfare Music Press in 2022 to focus on high-quality band compositions and arrangements. His collaborations on pedagogical resources like Measures of Success and the Warm-ups and Beyond series have become standard tools in beginning band curricula nationwide. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education in 2017.
