About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages is a composer and conductor whose work reaches across orchestral, band, and chamber music disciplines. His compositions have been performed internationally by orchestras, university ensembles, and school groups in landmark venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Sydney Opera House. He received the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association and won the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest for Love and Light.

As a guest conductor, Balmages regularly appears at all-state ensembles, university groups, and professional orchestras worldwide, with notable engagements at the Midwest Clinic, Western International Band Clinic, and the College Band Directors Conference. He holds the distinction of being an elected member of the American Bandmasters Association and has been commissioned by major institutions for significant occasions, including music for a presidential inauguration service. Balmages currently serves as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic.
