About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages has built a reputation as a composer and conductor equally comfortable in orchestral, band, and chamber settings. His works have been performed by ensembles spanning from professional orchestras to elementary school groups on stages including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Sydney Opera House.

Recognized with the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association and a winner of the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest, Balmages holds membership in the American Bandmasters Association. His music appeared in the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service, and he has been commissioned to compose for university inaugurations and major institutions. As Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education, he continues shaping music education through both composition and administrative leadership.
