About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams established himself as a prolific and respected voice in school music composition, with over 200 published works spanning band, orchestra, and choral literature. His work as co-author of the Accent on Achievement Band Method shaped instrumental pedagogy across the country, while his career as a clinician and guest conductor took him to 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. He held degrees from Eastern Washington University and served as woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band.

Based in Washington state for much of his teaching career, Williams specialized in elementary band and demonstrated a deep understanding of what young musicians could achieve. His compositions earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. Beyond the page, he remained an active performer on bassoon and served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band, bringing both compositional skill and practical ensemble experience to everything he wrote.
