About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has spent over three decades in the classroom, where his deep understanding of young musicians' needs shapes every composition he writes. His works appear regularly on state and national concert stages, and his impact extends beyond the concert hall through his pedagogical contributions to widely used band methods including Measures of Success® and Warm-ups and Beyond. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) reached an audience of 5,000 at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Loest's prolific catalog spans multiple publishers, and in 2022 he founded Fanfare Music Press to bring his vision of high-quality band composition and arrangement to even more musicians. His music has been heard on network television programs including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University and maintains active membership in ASCAP and several music education organizations.
