About the Composer: Michael Kamuf

Michael Kamuf earned Bachelor of Music degrees in Jazz Performance and Music Education from Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music, then completed a Master of Arts in Instrumental Conducting at George Mason University. His compositions and arrangements have been recorded by legendary ensembles including the Woody Herman and Glenn Miller Orchestras, the USAF Airmen of Note, and the US Navy Commodores, alongside soloists like James Moody, Eddie Daniels, and Sean Jones.

Kamuf spent thirty years teaching instrumental music in Maryland's public schools, including twenty-seven years as Director of Bands and Orchestras at John T. Baker Middle School in Damascus. His student ensembles consistently earned festival recognition and commissioned new works. He remains an exclusive composer and arranger for the Belwin Division of Alfred Music Publishing, with over 100 publications across jazz, orchestral, and concert band catalogs. Kamuf currently leads the Mike Kamuf Little Big Band with accomplished musicians from the Baltimore and Washington, DC region.
